May 2025 Ministry Recap
It’s rainy season now in Cambodia. And almost mid-year already! The skies may be gloomy at times, but I’m reminded of God’s mercies that fall fresh every morning like the rain. As I sit here reflecting, I can only praise God for His steady faithfulness in our lives. Truly, it is only by His grace that we breathe, move, and live each day.
This past month of May has been fruitful physically, emotionally, and most importantly, spiritually. And our verse today, Matthew 25:34, is a strong and beautiful reminder that there is a reward waiting for all who live faithfully for Him. It’s a reminder not just to endure but to obey and walk with Him every single day.
The verse speaks of our inheritance something we did not and cannot earn. It is prepared. It is promised. It is ours because of Jesus.
Are We Living Our Purpose?
The King will say, "Come... take your inheritance." What a powerful moment to anticipate! But before that moment arrives, we have this short life this one life to respond to God's call: to love, to serve, to share Jesus.
If we truly believe that Jesus is coming back, we cannot delay sharing His goodness with others. We must be ready to share the gospel at any time, with anyone. Are we living the purpose He has called us to do?
Jesus said, "Go and make disciples of all nations." That means your neighborhood, your workplace, your university, your local market, your circle of friends, and yes, even chance encounters at the mall.
Let me share how this message was made real for us this month.
The Uno Card and Table Tennis Encounter
It was just an ordinary weekend. We needed to fulfill a promise to our son David to buy him a deck of UNO cards. He’d saved up by reading Khmer books, selling chocolate crinkles, and taking sermon notes every Sunday. His choices made us proud. He wasn’t asking for gadgets. Instead, he was investing in games he could share and play with others.
So off we went to the mall. After making his purchase, we took a little stroll I needed to hit my 10,000 steps for the day. We passed a sports shop on the ground floor where they allowed people to try out some of their equipment. That’s when David spotted the table tennis area. He asked to play, and they allowed him to have a match with another boy. Soon enough, my husband Vandy also joined in.
A little backstory, Vandy played volleyball and table tennis when he was studying at Bible school. He was actually pretty good. These days, he occasionally plays at home with pastors and youth who drop by our house. It’s a relaxing time, but also a powerful chance to bond and sometimes share the gospel.
That day at the mall, Vandy had a friendly match with another man who turned out to be quite friendly and open. After a few good games, they shook hands, chatted a bit, and even exchanged numbers. As it turns out, this man owns a guest house on the other side of the city and was simply out with his family for some groceries.
Since that encounter, they’ve been exchanging messages. There is mutual respect and connection. Our prayer is that we will get to meet again, this time with their family, and that a door will be opened to share Jesus with them.
This is why we need to always be ready.
You don’t need a stage or a mic to share the gospel. Sometimes, all you need is an open heart, a listening ear, a paddle, or even a UNO card.
Highlights from May
Let me walk you through more of God’s goodness from the past month:
1. David’s School Year Wrap-Up
David received an award for demonstrating a strong work ethic & a desire to grow. He was also chosen to be a flag bearer during their year-end performance. He’s also still consistent with his sermon note-taking. He will need to enroll in a summer class for his upcoming Khmer National examinations for 7th grade 🙏
2. Mother’s Day Celebration at PPC
We celebrated all mothers in our church, and I was reminded again how every woman who nurtures and gives her life for others is playing a big role in God’s kingdom.
3. Hosting at Home
We had the chance to open our home again; it’s something we love to do. Whether it’s a meal, a chat, or a game night, we believe our home is also a place of ministry.
4. Dormitory Support and Ministry
Vandy has made several trips to the dorm to fix plumbing and electricity issues. The dorm ministry remains one of our most important outreaches.
5. Prayer Meetings
Our monthly prayer gatherings, led by Tess and Hyangsuk, have grown in depth. This month, prayer items were clustered and lifted in groups. There’s such power in united, intentional prayer.
6. Mango and Durian Season!
We thank God for the harvest. From our trees at home and the fruits sent by family in Kampong Cham, we’ve had plenty to share mangoes turned into jam, smoothies, and desserts. Even durian, which we only eat once a year, came in abundance. All these are simple but sweet reminders that God provides in season.
5 Simple and Effective Ways to Share the Gospel
-
Be Present and Kind: Just be there. Listen. Smile. Offer to pray.
-
Live Authentically: Your life speaks louder than your words. Let others see Jesus in how you live, how you love, and how you respond to hardships.
-
Use Everyday Conversations: A story about a UNO card can lead to a gospel moment. Everyday moments can become eternal opportunities.
-
Open Your Home: Hospitality opens doors to hearts. You don’t need a big house just a big heart.
-
Pray for Open Doors and Obedient Hearts: Before you share the gospel with anyone, pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide the timing and words.
Let’s Walk by Faith
God has prepared an inheritance for us. It’s not because of what we do but because of who we are in Jesus. Let us not keep this Good News to ourselves.
This world needs hope. Your friends, your neighbors, even strangers you bump into at the mall they need to know that there is a Savior who loves them.
So, let’s not delay. Let’s live our purpose. Let’s be ready.
Prayer Corner
Here are a few things we’d love for you to pray with us about:
1. Discernment and Strategy
That we would have clear direction in ministering to Cambodian university students.
2. A Lasting Dormitory Home
We are praying for a secure and long-term place for our students in Phnom Penh.
3. Wisdom in Parenting David
David is starting 7th grade soon. Pray for patience, support, and wisdom in parenting a child with mild autism.
A Heartfelt Prayer
Lord,
Thank You for the gift of life and the grace to live for You each day. Thank You for the inheritance You have prepared for us. Help us not to keep Your goodness to ourselves. Give us the courage to speak about You and the love to serve others. Open our eyes to see opportunities, and open our mouths to share Your truth.
Let our homes, our walks to the mall, our table tennis games, and our UNO card trips all be holy moments where You are glorified.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
