December 2025 Ministry Recap

Image
This Christmas season, our hearts have been drawn again to the familiar yet powerful words from Luke 2:8 to 10 . When the shepherds were watching their flocks at night, the angel of the Lord appeared to them, and they were afraid. But the angel said, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” These words feel especially meaningful this season. In a world filled with uncertainty, tension, and unanswered questions, God’s first message was comfort. Do not be afraid. Jesus has come. And because He has come, we have joy, peace, love, and hope that cannot be taken away. Jesus is the reason for this season. He is not only part of our celebration, He is the source of our joy. Our peace. Our love. Our hope.  Displaced Communities in Cambodia Here in Cambodia, December has been both meaningful and heavy. While we celebrated Christmas worship and rejoiced in what God is doing among our students, we are also aware of the ongoing border tensions betw...

Do Not Be Afraid

How did you prepare for Christmas this month? For us, Christmas did not begin with shopping lists or gift wrapping. It began with tired bodies, grateful hearts, and a simple joy that only God can give. Last week, we celebrated our Christmas worship at PPC. It was joyful, busy, tiring, and so worth it. We welcomed new faces, and once again, we were reminded why we serve. Not for programs or events, but for people. For souls. For the message of salvation that God wants everyone to hear. Vandy shared a heartfelt sermon on Luke 2:9-10, message of Jesus birth (purposeful reason), trusting God even in the midst of uncertainty we can have Joy, Hope, Love, & Peace.  We laughed. We were exhausted. We rejoiced. And most of all, we praised God for the chance to share His purpose of hope. I will share photos soon. I promise. Life has been full and busy, and I still do not have them ready. But even without photos, the moments are already deeply written in my heart.  Phnom Penh Church g...

November 2025 Ministry Recap

Image
Cambodia is entering that short season my students lovingly call winter. After weeks of rain and flooding, the air feels lighter and the wind is cooler. My students come to class wearing sweaters and jackets, even when the temperature still feels warm to me, a Filipina used to storms and typhoons back home. But here, the breeze is enough to make everyone smile and say that winter has arrived in Phnom Penh.  Just a meme AI photo of winter in Kampot As we close the month of November, I want to share a simple reflection from our family and ministry here at PPC church and the dormitory, and some highlights from what God has been doing in our lives. This month has been full. It has been tiring at moments, but also overflowing with reasons to give thanks. And as the Christmas season draws near, my heart feels drawn again to quiet praise and simple prayers. God has been close to us. God has kept us. God has been faithful. So I hope these stories bless you. I hope the Scriptures today remi...

What are you Thankful for?

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Even though Cambodia does not officially celebrate Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or Christmas, it is still a joyful season. I find it beautiful that even in a country shaped deeply by Buddhist culture, people are very welcoming of celebrations that speak of joy, giving, and togetherness. Malls decorate their spaces. Restaurants offer special meals. Even food delivery apps join in. It is mainly for business and economic purposes, but still, it creates a sense of warmth. Meanwhile, universities and local schools across the country continue with normal schedules. No holiday or break. This includes the university where I teach, which is why I continue teaching while friends and family in other countries enjoy long weekends and feasts. Still, we give thanks. God does not need a national holiday for us to remember His goodness. Gratitude is not tied to a calendar. It is tied to the heart. Looking Forward to Christmas at PPC While the country keeps moving as us...

How Can We Show God's Love?

Image
Yesterday, my husband, Vandy, started a new sermon series in preparation for our Christmas celebration. The message was simple: How Can We Show God's Love?  Christ loved us, and we ought to share this love with others especially to the unbelievers. Christmas should never be separated from the purpose of Jesus coming into the world. He came so we can know God’s love and share this love with those around us. As Christians, we represent the Savior through our actions, our responses, our words, and even our character. Sometimes people will experience Jesus not through a sermon, not through a Bible study, but through a meal we share, a visit we make, or a simple act of kindness that reflects His heart. David's Brownies being sold at 66 Coffee Vandy shared a story that moved many of us. It was about a friend we knew many years ago, someone who owns a small coffee shop near our previous apartment. Back then, we would stop by her shop, order a drink, exchange smiles, talk about life in...

Sustaining God’s Work

It has been more than 15 years since our family first answered God’s call to serve in Phnom Penh.  Looking back, it’s amazing how time has passed and how much the Lord has done in and through this ministry. When we first came and moved to the city to serve in a Bible School , we had nothing but faith in our hearts and a deep desire to serve the Lord among the Khmer people. Eventually God lead us here, we didn’t know exactly what the journey would look like, but we trusted that God would lead the way. Every year has been a story of His grace, and every challenge has become an opportunity to see His faithfulness unfold. Our family has been serving faithfully with Phnom Penh Church (PPC) for over a decade now. Our calling is simple yet deeply meaningful to disci...
