Five Bibles Verses to pray for our Husbands

My Pday's Birthday!

The word "P'day" is actually referred to as husband in Khmer language. Today is actually Vandy's birthday. In Khmer culture, if you were born in the 70's your birthday is most likely NOT the real one. Like in the case of my husband, apparently, according to my mother-in-law, she needed to register his birthday few years later and they just chose his birthday based on Chinese signs and seasons combined. She needed to do this to protect Vandy from being recruited to be a young soldier for war (threat for another Khmer rouge). My husband is the only boy among the 4 siblings (+three sisters) and he is the only one who would carry the name of Kongkong's (grandpa) family line.
We don't normally throw any party or big celebration on birthdays at home - the reason being is we always celebrate our birthdays every single day for Jesus! It's all by God's grace that we are alive and well.

Vandy's faith conversion (testimony) is really one of a kind. I wish to be able to share it in the blog one of these days. I'm always thankful for my husband. We met in the mission field. If you want something cheesy story, head to this previous post 👉 Our most Likely marriage proposal

My husband is a very simple man, and I always thank God for him every day. He is actually my good discipler and my person who would always point me to Christ. We share the same passion in the ministry. I acknowledge that my husband is the leader of our home. He is accountable to God. Vandy would show us how and what to pray, he would exemplify how to read the bible and would always humbly remind me of my quiet time.

My husband has many dreams and desire to accomplish. David has asked him the other night - how long would he want to live? He said atleast a hundred! haha.. a long time! Vandy said he desire to meet his great grandchildren and make sure that he would have the opportunity to impart Christ in their lives 😍💖 We pray that Vandy will be more courageous and stronger as he does the purposes God has instore for his life.

I know I have yet to cultivate my relationship with my husband (each stages and seasons I believe so). It is always my prayer to grow in faith and to pray for my husband effectively.  By God's grace, praying for our husband is a great opportunity and our accountability to God. Our passionate requests have the potential to improve their connection with Christ, direct their ministry, offer knowledge, provide safety, influence their words, and foster lasting friendships. I have found an inspiration to pray for my husband from a post/blog I saw in Pinterest 👉 credit to My Joy in Chaos blogpost. I would love to share my own version. I hope this would foster our praying habits for our husbands. I am happy to share these five bible verses with you.

Five Bibles Verses to pray for our Husbands

1. Ephesians 5:25 - "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

Prayer: Dear God, help my husband to love us selflessly, just as Christ loved the church. May he prioritize our well-being and happiness above his own desires. Strengthen our bond through acts of love and kindness.

2. Proverbs 31:11 - "The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain."

Prayer: Lord, instill trust in my husband's heart towards us. May he find security and peace in our relationship. Help me to be a trustworthy partner, supporting him in all aspects of life.

3. 1 Peter 3:7 - "Husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered."

Prayer: Heavenly Father, guide my husband to understand and honor me in our marriage. Help him to value my perspectives and contributions. Strengthen our relationship so that our prayers may be heard and answered.

4. Colossians 3:19 - "Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them."

Prayer: Lord, soften my husband's heart towards me. May he show love and kindness in his words and actions. Help us communicate with love and understanding, fostering a harmonious and loving marriage.

5. Genesis 2:24 - "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

Prayer: God, strengthen the bond between my husband and me. Help us prioritize our marriage above all other relationships. Guide us to support and cherish each other, becoming one in mind, body, and spirit.

May these prayers and reflections based on these Bible verses will help us (wives) nurture and strengthen our relationships towards our spouses, fostering love, respect, and unity in our marriage.

Love you all from Cambodia!
