With God All Things Are Possible

For many years now, one of the tools that has helped me stay connected with God every day is the YouVersion Bible app. I am truly thankful for it. It is simple to use and it reminds me daily to spend intentional time with God. I read guided devotionals in the morning as I hop on my tuktuk, and I listen to the audio Bible during quiet moments. I have been using it for five years now and it has helped me catch up and finish my Bible reading and listening goals. It also shapes what I share with the young woman I disciple, Sheryl. I am amazed by how God uses this small tool in my hand to speak to me in a very personal way, almost like He is sitting beside me whispering truth into my heart.

Most of my morning prayers flow from the devotional I read and the Bible verse of the day. Many times I write them down in my journal. If you have been following my blog, you already know that I write about family, our dorm ministry, Cambodian culture, and the simple moments of life that God uses to teach me. I have also shared my vulnerable moments as a mother, a wife, a missionary, and a woman trying to grow in her faith. God knows every part of our hearts. He knows what is spoken and even what is unspoken. His love is bigger than what we understand.

Recently, YouVersion reached one billion subscribers. What a celebration. Praise God for that. Imagine how many people around the world have access to the Bible because of it. I am especially amazed because it is now translated into so many languages, reaching the places that once seemed unreachable. These places include what we call the ten forty window. It is the part of the world covering North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. More than half of the world population lives in this area. I learned about the ten forty window (Joshua Project) back in 2006 as a student in the Asian Center for Missions. That season opened my eyes to the needs of the world. I remember how God softened our hearts for the nations. In 2007, I responded to the mission call and moved to Cambodia. I did not know everything. I did not feel fully capable. But God made it possible.

This brings my heart back to a verse that continues to speak to me in my quiet time.

Matthew 19:26
Jesus looked at them and said With man this is impossible but with God all things are possible.

Many of us have heard this verse many times. Many have quoted it in moments when they wanted something to happen. Some say it when they dream of success, financial breakthrough, or personal desires. But the message of Matthew 19 is not about getting everything we want. Jesus was not talking about personal gain. He was talking about salvation and surrender.

The chapter begins with a young man approaching Jesus and asking what he must do to gain eternal life. Jesus told him the truth. The young man needed to give up what he valued most. He walked away sad because he could not let go. Jesus explained that it is very difficult for someone who is attached to earthly things to enter the Kingdom of God. This is why the disciples asked Him, then who can be saved. They were shocked. They felt that salvation sounded impossible.

Jesus looked at them and said what seems impossible for man is possible with God. In other words salvation is not something we can earn. It is not a reward for our hard work. It is not something money can buy. We cannot save ourselves. Only God can save us. This is the true meaning of the verse.

There are moments in life when we try to carry things on our own. We try to fix problems by our own strength. We try to fill our hearts through relationships, achievements, or comfort. But these things cannot save us. They cannot heal us fully. They cannot give us eternal life. God alone can do the impossible.

Every morning as I sit with God in my quiet time, I pray for a surrendered heart. I ask God to search me and remove anything that keeps me from trusting Him. Without God everything in life will eventually fade. Nothing makes sense in eternity unless my heart is fixed on Him. Everything I own and everything I do only has meaning when I offer it back to Him.

All things are Possible with God!

In life and ministry, especially here in Cambodia, there are many moments that felt impossible at first. We often found ourselves wondering how God would provide or how God would lead us. Parenting our son who has mild autism taught us to trust God in deeper ways. Ministry taught us to hold on to God even when we did not understand everything. Marriage showed us that grace is not only something we receive but something we must give. Serving at PPC church reminded us that we only here because of His calling. None of this was easy, and none of this was possible without God.

As I reflect on Matthew 19:26 again, I want to take you on this journey with me. Maybe you are new in faith. Maybe you have been in faith for many years but you feel tired or distant. Maybe you do not know what to believe yet. Wherever you are, I pray this message becomes a gentle reminder that God is still working in your life. He has not forgotten you. He sees your heart. He hears your quiet prayers. And He invites you to surrender all your worries to Him.

Below are reflections that can help us understand what God is doing when He says that all things are possible with Him.

Six Reflections on Matthew 19:26

1. God sees your heart before your words

Just like Jesus saw the heart of the young man, He sees what truly holds us. He knows what we love. He knows what we are afraid to lose. Sometimes God exposes the things that control us not to shame us but to set us free. When God invites us to surrender, it is not because He wants to take away joy. It is because He wants to give us life.

2. Surrender leads to freedom

It feels scary to let go of things that give us comfort. But the moment we surrender, we realize that God fills the empty spaces with peace. Freedom comes when we stop trying to control everything and allow God to take His rightful place in our hearts.

3. Salvation is a gift

No matter how good we try to be, we cannot earn salvation. It is a gift that God freely gives. Many people are tired because they feel they must impress God. But God is not asking for perfection. He is asking for a humble heart.

4. Human strength is limited but God is unlimited

Our strength may fail. Our wisdom may fail. Our plans may fail. But God never fails. What is too hard for us is not too hard for Him. When we reach our limit, God begins His work.

5. God makes the first move

Before we felt the desire to seek Him, God was already drawing our hearts. He invites us to come. He shows us our need for Him. He prepares us to receive His love.

6. God specializes in the impossible

Throughout Scripture, God turns impossible situations into miracles. From the Red Sea to the cross, God has proven again and again that nothing is too hard for Him. The same God who parted the sea is the same God working in your life right now.

Six Practical Applications & Prayers

1. Set aside daily time with God - Even a few minutes in the morning can change your day. Read Scripture. Pray. Listen. Allow God to speak to your heart.

Lord search my heart. Show me the things that I hold tightly. Help me surrender them to You. Fill me with Your peace.

2. Write your prayers - Journaling helps you see how God answers prayers. It also teaches you to slow down and reflect on what God is doing.

Father thank You for loving me even when I fall short. Teach me to trust You with all my heart.

3. Ask God to reveal what needs surrender - Pray honestly. Ask God to show you what holds your heart. Let Him speak. Then listen with openness.

Jesus thank You for the gift of salvation. I cannot earn it. Help me receive it with humility and faith.

4. Be part of a faith community - Do not walk this journey alone. Join a small group. Attend a Christ-centered church. Serve. Share life with others. Growth happens in community.

God give me strength when I feel weak. Remind me that You are greater than any challenge I face.

5. Practice obedience in small things Obedience is not only about big decisions. Start with simple steps. Pray for someone. Read Scripture. Choose kindness. These small steps lead to deeper faith.

Lord help me walk in obedience. Make my steps firm and steady. Guide me in Your truth every day.

6. Share the gospel with someone You do not need to be a preacher. You can share your story. Your story can touch someone who needs hope. You never know how God will use it.

Father open doors for me to share Your love with others. Use my life as a testimony of Your goodness.

As you reach the end of this reflection, I want to encourage you to respond.
