How to RUN the race with ENDURANCE?

Image
It's Olympic season! If you have been watching the news lately, there have been lots of buzz about the opening of the Olympic in Paris. But I won't be dwelling much on the not so good news.  As Christ believers, we should act kinder and gentler on some pressing issues. Hope we should become more of a peacemaker rather than be a condemner. I think this is the best time to show or express God's love rather than hate (just saying). My faith is only anchored in Christ Jesus, and I am called to share that L-O-V-E without reservation.  This is my faith journey to run the race with perseverance while standing on His TRUTHS. To run the race with perseverance as mentioned in Hebrews 12:1, one should focus on keeping faith in God, staying steadfast in the face of challenges, and drawing strength from the examples of those who have gone before us.  It involves enduring difficulties with patience and determination, trusting in God's guidance and promises, and staying resolute in th...

Quiet time

Image
Quiet time is an important discipline at home. I know it's challenging sometimes with a growing and active boy like David. But we need to show him how we do it and be consistent with it. It's good that he would copy us most of the time.  Even before Vandy and I met each other, having an alone time with God has always been our habit. God has proven much of his answers through our solitude with Him. This discipline has kept us stronger when we come together (in our marriage and raising our son). We have a lot to surrender to God. I love how God would give clarity when we reflect on His word as He leads us to a deeper understanding even to those hard to comprehend situations - He would give us peace! even on his nebulizer, David is still committed to spend time with God 💪👍 God's word is alive and active! It's essential for our growth and development without God's word we won't be able to live (to be righteous and holy for God) Quiet time: Reading the scripture to...

Our "Love Project" 🥰💕🙏🍪🍰🎂🧁

I want to share some thoughts that resounding in my mind lately. Confession time ready?! 💪  Tent Making My husband and I have always been praying to increase our income so we could help and support our ministries. It's been a conscious effort for us to share our mission heart to our friends and families, but we never fund raise. To be honest, there's always hesitation on us to ask anybody for help especially on financial support.  We strongly believe that this supplication is really God's part not ours. God is our sole provider. I have always been vocal to how God has provided for us through my teaching job in the university and through my husband's part time translating skills. God has proven His faithfulness in attending our needs and even rewarded us with some wants sometimes. 👍  Journey as a University Lecturer Please don't get me wrong when I mentioned about "fund raising" 😀 we do acknowledge this is also one of God's vessels to provide His wo...

Phnom Penh's gloomy weather

Image
It's been raining in the city this week.   For no reason, I just felt an energy low today - that is even right after I read my morning devotion 😔 I am unsure where is this coming from but in my prayer today, I ask God to renew my thoughts and awaken my spirit to see Him even with whatever emotions I may have today. Do you also feel this way sometimes? feeling down without any reasons haha! My energy was so high last week as we start the new semester at the university and then suddenly at week 2, I felt like a melting candle. I might have given much energy last week huh?! 😰😳  Anyways, these are the moments that I do really need much soaking time in reading and reflecting in the mornings. I am wearing many of hats as a woman, wife, mother, sister, lecturer, and so on. I wasn't able to sleep much last night, my mind was thinking a lot and widely awake. I think of many lists to do and plans to achieve this half-way year to go! I felt like I need to do more. Until I stumbled at ...

Saved by God's grace

Young Couples We love praying for our young couples at church.  Aside from ministering to the youth at our dormitories, we have always had that burden to help out young married couples.  We have four young couples at church! Three of them are from our Dorm men. After they graduated from the university, they eventually got married and decided to start a family here in the city. We are happy that they have stayed in the church and continued the fellowship with us. Three young mommies' have temporary went back to the countryside to rear their young babies (with the help of their parents & relatives). We pray that they will continue to seek God's guidance and help as they navigate this new season despite away in the city. We miss them a lot! We used to have a regular discipleship with them (online meet up by and couple fellowships at home). They didn't have any babies then 😅😁😀 they had all the time for meeting us! We totally understand that once babies arrived, a lot of ...

When it rains, it pours

Image
on my Tuktuk commuting home Cambodia has entered the rainy seasons.  This country is blessed because of its geographical position - nestled between the countries of Vietnam, Thailand, and Laos. These neighboring countries would always get typhoons and other natural calamities. And since Cambodia is like a basin, it would only get the after effect. Yes, Mekong River would overflow from time to time due to monsoon rains, but it will not linger and would still be manageable. However, there have been many concerns these past few years. Flooding has become such a problem especially here in the city of Phnom Penh.  As a daily commuter, it would be really uncomfortable and irritating whenever moto rider would rudely drive pass and splash water on you especially in the busy mornings 😢😫 which unfortunately happened to me today 😓. It just happened so quickly, and I was speechless for a moment - I got soaked! (from my pants to my shoes). My tuktuk driver looked at me and perhaps waiti...

Trap at the elevator

Image
The university I am teaching is actually located in the middle town (Phnom Penh commercial district). We are not exclusively renting the whole building. Most of the tenants are banks, cafes, logistics and others. Since our institution occupies 5 floors (1,6,7,8,9 floors), we get much of the access on the five elevators. There was a scary incident in one of the elevators that led six people (including 3 lecturers) got trapped. It was terrible that they were stuck there for 30 minutes without any signals!! we just knew they were gone missing pretty long. Thank goodness the building operations were able to restore power and located them. It was traumatizing for them (one lecturer is even on a wheelchair!).  Have you ever been trapped? I could just imagine how dreadful it is.    where the lecturers and student got stuck for 30 minutes! 😨😲 Psalm 31 is a heartfelt prayer of king David, a man who experienced numerous trials and challenges throughout his life. It's powerful rem...

Beautiful mess??

Our tongue 👅 is one of the tiniest organ in our body and yet it’s powerful.  It has a power to build up and hurt.  Our words matter. What comes out from our tongue is a reflection of what’s in our hearts.  As believers we should be able to be mindful of our words - it could bring life or death to the people around us.  We need to guard it at all times. Thank God for the fruit of the spirit teaching us to be self-controlled, gentle, love, kind with the words we could use. Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,  and those who love it will eat its fruits.  Our son David loves to build and makes his own toys. He likes intricate details like the ones of legos and buildings, he draws and sketches and all of these would easily pile up in the living room down to our dining table. it's such a chaos at times! Before it does drive me crazy, but then I realized he could only be a boy once. I have to process it mindfully. There was a time when I ...

Put God first

Image
Praise be to God 💕🙏👍 His love endures forever 🥰 As part of the body of Christ, we are rejoicing for our sister Sokun Thy - she has humbly accepted Christ as her personal Savior last Sunday 💕 we are so blessed at her own faith declaration thru her shared testimony at church worship.  Thank God for this fruit of intentional Pray,Care, and Share!  It’s truly an answered prayer for our family especially for my husband 🙏 💕 we have been praying for decades to have this moment. And it is now happening 💕 it’s all by God’s grace 🙏💕 until the whole household experience God’s transforming love 💕  Pastor Greg B. Fernandez Jr. preached a very timely sermon on Matthew 6:33 surrendered life - putting God first! * With a kingdom-minded perspective, we ought to be considering the timeless qualities that will last rather than the temporal ones. God or money can be a person's first priority, but not both. Jesus also advises people to resist worry over their everyday necessities....
