David’s 11th birthday 🎂 June 7th
🙏🎂👦😂
We never really throw big parties on birthdays (except when our son turned 1yr old). It’s been always us celebrating intimately hehe 😉 I'm glad our son appreciates simple celebrations.
However, actually today would be extra special - we have a surprise for him this evening. We visited MV Doulos floating book fair 😉 as I mentioned on yesterday's post. We are glad Pich and Vouch were able to join him as well.
It's a rainy Friday. Doulos staff is very accommodating to provide us with umbrellas to go back and forth to the ship. David was able to get some books to read. After that, Dad brought us to have some soup, so David could get his one last surprise hehe.. ice cream oreo cake from DQ!
We thank God for David's life; we love how he thinks of others before himself. Sharing with you some of the little things that we appreciate about our son:
- gives drinking water to the preacher and translator on Sundays without fail
- Refills drinking water in the fridge
- Always ask forgiveness when he wronged or offended someone
- Appreciates people (wow so impressive move bong Pich, your cookies 🍪 are the best mom, thank you for cooking this delicious Sinigang soup dad! Awesome breakfast aunt Kunthy..)
- Goal oriented (reading chapters in the Bible divides the chapters each night so he could be done each books)
- So thoughtful: always ask how’s my day is, how’s dad’s feeling
- So resourceful when doing DIY toys or experiments with limited sources
- Good memory on processes and steps
- Story telling very thorough
- Asks thoughtful questions
- Loves collecting coins 🪙
- He loves to recite Psalm 56:3 "when I am afraid I put my trust in God" (scared of cockroaches, dark, of the unknown)
- Tries to be independent (cooking 🍳, bathing himself, washing his own clothes, cuts his own finger nails&toenails)
- Knows how to edit videos (learned from school)
- Prays for the nation (using the globe at home)
- Always volunteers to pray (at school, mealtime, bedtime)
- Prepared his school uniform weekly and daily clothes
- He seriously maximizes his gadget hours and agreed to honor conditions (only allowed t use from Friday night until Sunday on a limited time)
- Shows interest on stocks like Tesla 😌😬 (what in a world?? haha)
- He desires to study in the Bible school when he grows up

David: I'm thank God for my family. Today is the best day ever!!
David's birthing story
We thank God for our son. He’s always been a testament of God’s faithfulness to our family.
I vividly remembered that day, during my last doctor's visit - he told us our son will come out soon, and I can't go home anymore. David was born a week earlier as planned, since my water has gone/dried up. I didn't even know that it broke out.
As a young inexperienced mom, I felt a rushing fear and excitement! I'm grateful for family (my mom flew from the Philippines to help out) and in-laws from Kampong Cham travelled to the city. I was still all smiles and composed in the first few hours.
But soon the excruciating pain kicked in when I am at the labor room. I felt really weak and seemed no more power to push. Vandy and I prayed for extra strength, because I really desire to have a natural birth. Our baby David was a fighter. The doctor kept on monitoring his heartbeat.
The verse that I read today tells us to surrender the things we can’t control and let God handle them:
Psalm 4:8 "In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
Exodus 33:14 And he said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
I fully rest upon God's plan and sleep soundly knowing that God is our peace ✌️
David's future belongs to Him. In fact, God has already prepared it long before we conceived him that’s how organized our God is.
