First time meeting up with Sheryl (post with my dear sister Hyangsuk as well) |
Sheryl's first time @ PPC 💖😍
My heart is full today, I finally able to meet Sheryl in the flesh (we always meet/do discipleship online!).
I'm glad she's able to join our corporate worship. Sheryl was endorsed to us by our mentors from CCF. They said there is a Filipina who would want to know the bible here in Cambodia.
I messaged her right away and introduced myself. Our first official online meet was last November 2023, and I knew and sensed her sincerity to know God, she said she wanted to be guided.
Back home, she's from Bukidnon (somewhere Mindanao). Sheryl grew up in a Catholic home. She works in the garment industry here - in Kandal province (she's not in the city).
I really appreciated the honesty and the desire for her to know more about God by studying the bible with me.
Somehow, I felt the prompting to talk with her about the concept of sin and the need for us of a Saviour and Lord in our lives.
I'm glad she listened. I thought - there would still need for her to think about it and decide once she's ready but to my surprise - she said she's ready to accept Jesus that night.
Oh my heart was rejoicing, since I was so ready she might refuse first.
I congratulated her to finally be part of the Kingdom of God! that she is now made new and would see have a clear identity in Christ - I would love to help her to cultivate and flourish her relationship with the Lord from then on.
On to our next meeting, we started talking about the first discipline on reading God's word together. Since then, almost every morning - I would send/share to her my daily devotion through Telegram.
Accountability
It was challenging for us to do online meetings (every other week) now, that's why I believe our daily morning messages help to check on each other.
This morning habit of sharing my devo/verse of the day has also given me that sense of accountability with her and you know challenge me to be more consistent with my walk with the Lord. Since most of my illustrations and examples are based on my own experiences.
I am also happy knowing things about her life in Mindanao, her family, her sacrifices to be here and work in Cambodia.
I love praying for her concerns. I do hope that she would come again and worship with us atleast whenever there's an English pastor to share at church (which I believe it will be done.. we are excited about it!)
I know it's quite a long ride for her to come to the city. I think it took her almost an hour Grab ride from Kandal province just to meet us at PPC.

Vandy translating for Pastor Chuck |
Pastor Chuck Roost
When I learned that visitors from America would be coming and speak at PPC - that's when I had the chance to invite Sheryl to come and be able to listen to our English speaker.
I thank God for this opportunity. And Pastor Chuck's sharing/message is very relevant and timing for all of us.
This would be the first time visit for the team after Pandemic.
They usually come to Cambodia at least twice a year to conduct trainings to Pastors and church planters.
His team will be traveling the countryside this week and would do series of trainings to the body of Christ.
