The Importance of "Daily Goals"

Image
I know that life can get busy and overwhelming at times. As a pastor’s wife here in Cambodia, between ministry, family, and personal responsibilities, it can be easy to overlook the small, daily habits that build a healthy spiritual and physical life. However, it’s often the little things we do every day that lead to lasting transformation. By God’s grace, I’m continuing to commit myself to growth. Yes it’s challenging and overwhelming, but I realized the more things get busier having a routine is helpful to set priorities and get things done – not my way but God’s. Early on in my walk with God, I have committed myself to creating goals to practice spiritual discipline. My life is not mine, it’s not my own to live. I need to know my Savior. It’s always a daily surrender to Him. I am not trying to be perfect because nobody is. What I am trying to share is I can’t depend on myself, since I am always bound to fail. These specific and simple daily goals are helping me to grow spiritually...

Quiet time

Image
Quiet time is an important discipline at home. I know it's challenging sometimes with a growing and active boy like David. But we need to show him how we do it and be consistent with it. It's good that he would copy us most of the time.  Even before Vandy and I met each other, having an alone time with God has always been our habit. God has proven much of his answers through our solitude with Him. This discipline has kept us stronger when we come together (in our marriage and raising our son). We have a lot to surrender to God. I love how God would give clarity when we reflect on His word as He leads us to a deeper understanding even to those hard to comprehend situations - He would give us peace! even on his nebulizer, David is still committed to spend time with God 💪👍 God's word is alive and active! It's essential for our growth and development without God's word we won't be able to live (to be righteous and holy for God) Quiet time: Reading the scripture to...

Khmer New Year and the Passion Week

Image
👉 Get your  FREE Devotional ( 7-day prayer journal for the Passion week ) As the new week unfolds, our family eagerly anticipates two significant celebrations: Khmer New Year and the Passion Week . It’s a rare moment when these two events align, and this year, we are especially mindful of how we can embrace both. As followers of Christ, we hold the death and resurrection of Jesus at the center of our faith. Yet, as a family living in Cambodia, we also seek to honor and connect with our loved ones who celebrate Khmer New Year, a time deeply embedded in their cultural and religious traditions. This year, as we travel to my husband's hometown in Kampong Cham province, our hearts are drawn to Colossians 3:12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” These words serve as a guiding light for us, especially as we step into an environment where Buddhist traditions run deep. How do we celebr...

30 day challenge!

I'm on a 30 day challenge of claiming specific "prayers" for my husband. Got this idea/link from a christian blogger. I'm just so happy that I'm able to be led on  these needs. Of course I pray for my husband everyday, but this list has given me more guidelines so as to say. Right now, I'm on my 16th day I think (ok.. so, I confess - got tied up a little bit.. actually I'm 4days behind.. guilty me) So, going back.. I have prayed for my husband's PROTECTION today. Two verses have helped me claimed this prayer: a)  My steps have held fast to thy paths, My feet have not slipped. Psalm 17:5 and b)  I'm very convince that husbands need prayers from their wives. It's a powerful thing that binds a marriage. In the past 3 years, I have found out that prayers really a strong weapon to combat fears and insecurities. I'm still learning on this area, humbling myself to be changed daily. Our husbands are a gift from God. We should treasure and take ca...

David's breathing difficulty

Image
Nebulizing sessions 😌😞💪😢🙏 I actually just prayed a surrender prayer today 🙏  You see as a mom, I have got so many things running into my head that they become worries.  The moment I hopped in my Tuktuk (mode of transportation here in Cambodia) to go work,  I started feeling at ease, because this is my time with the Lord unhurriedly.  The 45 minutes commute to the university has set me to continue my "quiet time" in my prayers, and on listening to the audio Bible.  David's difficulty breathing! Last night, dad and I hardly ever slept. We were monitoring David's breathing. Our son would always have these episodes of difficulty breathing - this time we don't know if the culprit is from the asthma, allergies, or rolled into one. It's good enough he is not feverish! It's pitiful to see him not on his quirky mode - his chest is unusually rising up & down and that sound of wheezing sound is weary some.  All we know is that whenever he engages with to mu...

Living Out God’s Mission

Image
Last week was a tender one for our church. One of our faithful church members, Thek, lost her mother. As a church, we prayed for her and her family and extended our sincere help to her family at this trying moment. Though we can't travel to hug her personally, we hope and pray that she's being comforted by our Lord. with her mom - last year's visit in Phnom Penh for medical check up Thek’s story is deeply personal to us. She is one of the many students who have been part of our dorm ministry a place where young women from the provinces come to Phnom Penh to study and are given a safe, loving environment to live and grow. But Thek's story stood out not just because of where she came from, but because of what God has done in her life. Thek is from Ratanakiri , one of Cambodia's most remote provinces. It takes about twelve hours to reach the capital, and even longer to get to her actual village, which is tucked away in the mountains and forests of the region. She come...

How to mindfully manage the household?

Image
Whether you’re a homemaker, a working mom, a young woman preparing for marriage, or someone just curious about faith, this is for you. As a pastor’s wife in Cambodia, I’ve walked through seasons of joy and storms alike. I've seen the beauty and the burdens of managing a household.  I've burned bread in the oven while hanging the laundry and rearing a sick child with tears falling quietly because life felt too heavy ( David was 3 years old at that time while dad was away for ministry work in the province) . Maybe you have, too. Through the years, by God's grace, I'm thankful for having a husband who's not only the head of our family in terms of leading our family spiritually but has even become beyond that role. He's always been supportive and present in every situation that I needed him. To be honest, our household might be different from other Khmer households or Asian families as a whole.  But through all of this, one Scripture passage has remained close to my...

Why Do Cambodians Celebrate Pchum Ben?

Image
Cambodia will have a long holiday next week. It's a BIG and an important holiday for Khmers called Pchum Benh. Schools and establishments would even be closed for a week! In fact, the capital city Phnom Penh will be turned into a ghost town since almost all the citizens will be traveling back to their hometowns to spend the holidays with their respective families. Our David could not contain his excitement about our road trip to Kampong Cham this coming Saturday. Pchum Ben, one of Cambodia’s most significant holidays, is deeply rooted in its people's culture, traditions, and beliefs . As a family of three serving in this beautiful country, it's always a blessing to be allowed to witness how Cambodians honor this sacred time. My husband and I look forward to these kinds of holidays, not only to visit our families but also to use this time to reflect on how the love of Christ shines on them as well. Allow me to share and introduce to you the meaning of Pchum Ben, a celebratio...
