The Importance of "Daily Goals"

Image
I know that life can get busy and overwhelming at times. As a pastor’s wife here in Cambodia, between ministry, family, and personal responsibilities, it can be easy to overlook the small, daily habits that build a healthy spiritual and physical life. However, it’s often the little things we do every day that lead to lasting transformation. By God’s grace, I’m continuing to commit myself to growth. Yes it’s challenging and overwhelming, but I realized the more things get busier having a routine is helpful to set priorities and get things done – not my way but God’s. Early on in my walk with God, I have committed myself to creating goals to practice spiritual discipline. My life is not mine, it’s not my own to live. I need to know my Savior. It’s always a daily surrender to Him. I am not trying to be perfect because nobody is. What I am trying to share is I can’t depend on myself, since I am always bound to fail. These specific and simple daily goals are helping me to grow spiritually...

Quiet time

Quiet time is an important discipline at home. I know it's challenging sometimes with a growing and active boy like David. But we need to show him how we do it and be consistent with it. It's good that he would copy us most of the time.  Even before Vandy and I met each other, having an alone time with God has always been our habit. God has proven much of his answers through our solitude with Him. This discipline has kept us stronger when we come together (in our marriage and raising our son). We have a lot to surrender to God. I love how God would give clarity when we reflect on His word as He leads us to a deeper understanding even to those hard to comprehend situations - He would give us peace! even on his nebulizer, David is still committed to spend time with God 💪👍 God's word is alive and active! It's essential for our growth and development without God's word we won't be able to live (to be righteous and holy for God) Quiet time: Reading the scripture to...

Are you always on time?

Image
I have a confession to make. I am not always on time. Yes, I said it. My husband, Vandy, would probably smile while reading this because he has spent years gently (and sometimes not so gently) reminding me about the importance of punctuality. One of the wonderful traits I admire and sometimes find challenging about him is his deep respect for time. He values it so much that we have had our share of small arguments over it. He has this principle: “It is better to wait than let people wait for you.” At first, I thought that was just his personality, but over the years I’ve realized it’s more than that. For him, being on time is about showing respect, valuing people, and honoring them by being fully present when you say you will. The Gift of Being On Time When you are on time, you are silently telling someone, “You matter to me. Your time matters to me. I came prepared to meet you, and I honor your presence.” Being punctual also says something about your character. And whether we like it...

With God All Things Are Possible

For many years now, one of the tools that has helped me stay connected with God every day is the YouVersion Bible app . I am truly thankful for it. It is simple to use and it reminds me daily to spend intentional time with God. I read guided devotionals in the morning as I hop on my tuktuk, and I listen to the audio Bible during quiet moments. I have been using it for five years now and it has helped me catch up and finish my Bible reading and listening goals. It also shapes what I share with the young woman I disciple, Sheryl. I am amazed by how God uses this small tool in my hand to speak to me in a very personal way, almost like He is sitting beside me whispering truth into my heart. Most of my morning prayers flow from the devotional I read and the Bible verse of the day. Many times I write them down in my journal. If you have been following my blog, you already know that I write about family, our dorm ministry, Cambodian culture, and the simple moments of life that God uses to tea...

Khmer New Year and the Passion Week

Image
👉 Get your  FREE Devotional ( 7-day prayer journal for the Passion week ) As the new week unfolds, our family eagerly anticipates two significant celebrations: Khmer New Year and the Passion Week . It’s a rare moment when these two events align, and this year, we are especially mindful of how we can embrace both. As followers of Christ, we hold the death and resurrection of Jesus at the center of our faith. Yet, as a family living in Cambodia, we also seek to honor and connect with our loved ones who celebrate Khmer New Year, a time deeply embedded in their cultural and religious traditions. This year, as we travel to my husband's hometown in Kampong Cham province, our hearts are drawn to Colossians 3:12: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” These words serve as a guiding light for us, especially as we step into an environment where Buddhist traditions run deep. How do we celebr...

5 Easy Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

Image
In my previous post, I shared how baking bread taught me about the beauty of resting and rising  👈 . It reminded me that God often works quietly in us, much like yeast working in the dough. Today, I want to continue that story by sharing another favorite recipe that’s close to my heart,  Cinnamon Rolls . But more than just the aroma and sweetness they bring, there’s something deeper that connects this baking process with one of the most powerful verses in the Bible: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9 This verse has been such a comfort to me in many seasons of life especially in moments when I felt weak, tired, or uncertain. Sometimes, grace doesn’t look like strength we show others; it looks like God gently holding us together when we feel like falling apart. And, believe it or not, baking cinnamon rolls became one of those quiet lessons where I saw His grace at work. The Aroma of Grace There’s something irr...

The Beauty of Resting and Rising

Image
There was a season in my life when I became quite addicted to baking bread. I remember it so clearly our son, David, was around six years old when we discovered he was having frequent skin rashes. We couldn’t figure out the cause. His doctor advised us to try a gluten-free diet until we could identify what triggered his allergies. At that time, I was both worried and overwhelmed. When I researched what foods we should avoid, I was alarmed. Almost every food David loved had gluten in it. As a mother, it broke my heart to see my son’s limited food options. I wanted him to still enjoy eating without fear of allergic reactions. So, I decided to do something new. I thought, maybe I could make our own bread from scratch. I read that handmade bread is often better than the commercial ones because it doesn’t contain as many preservatives and unnecessary ingredients. That discovery gave me hope and so began my bread-making journey.  The Early Days of Kneading and Waiting Hear me out it wasn...
