Kunthy's Spiritual birthday 🎂

Image
Household of faith 😍🙏 We made the decision to welcome my sister-in-law Kunthy and her teenage son Pich to live with us here in the city (Phnom Penh) a year ago.  We have been praying for Vandy's entire family to accept Christ as their Savior for many years now and we also realize that this might be our chance.  Perhaps living with us would mean a great opportunity to share the gospel to them. We praise God for the wonderful progress these past few months.  As a family, we made a conscious effort to show my sister in-law and Pich how much we care for them. not just in words, but above all in deeds. Dad, David and I prayed each night (before we go to bed) that they will soon come to truly accept Christ as Lord and that the things we do at home (prayer before meals, bible study, bible reading, attending worship at church) will become a way of life for them so that they can enjoy and encounter Christ.  We hope to show them that we have a spiritual father and ...

Trusting God’s Quiet Provision

Image
As a family, we’ve been serving the Lord here in Cambodia for over a decade. Looking back, it’s only by His grace that we are still doing what He has called us to do. We have simply depended on God’s quiet provision through our jobs and side hustles. We are grateful to our friends who would sometimes surprise us with their gifts. And we value and honor God for we know that's also one of the ways He would meet our needs. 👉  Our "Love Project" 🥰💕🙏🍪🍰🎂🧁   Psalm 127:2 says, “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for He gives to His beloved sleep.” This verse is like a warm blanket to us, especially when the worries of tomorrow try to steal our rest. We don’t live stress-free lives. There are bills to pay, mouths to feed, and ministry responsibilities that don’t pause. But we have learned something valuable over the years: when God is our provider, we can rest. Not because everything is perfect, but because everythin...

Parenting our 11-Year-Old Son

Father and son: Forgiveness & Reconciliation during the worship service @ PPC last Sunday Over the weekend, David showed rudeness while waiting for dinner. He would always like to drink pumpkin juice and munch on pumpkin chips (both homemade by Kunthy sister-in-law) whenever he comes home from playing outside. He seemed unpleased when he realized they were all gone, and Aunt Kunthy only made the chili-flavored ones. He wasn't happy about it and complained with pouting lips. Dad overheard it and talked to him about this not-so-good behavior. He reminded our son to be grateful and thankful instead of grumbling about it. We suggested he wait for dinner, but he still keeps on complaining that he is tired and hungry from playing. He actually has some leftover rice from lunch (it has been a practice at home not to waste any food, so any leftovers could be reheated and eaten for snacks/mealtime). He also didn't like it. He went on bargaining with Dad. Our son has slight autism, an...

Our "Love Project" 🥰💕🙏🍪🍰🎂🧁

I want to share some thoughts that resounding in my mind lately. Confession time ready?! 💪  Tent Making My husband and I have always been praying to increase our income so we could help and support our ministries. It's been a conscious effort for us to share our mission heart to our friends and families, but we never fund raise. To be honest, there's always hesitation on us to ask anybody for help especially on financial support.  We strongly believe that this supplication is really God's part not ours. God is our sole provider. I have always been vocal to how God has provided for us through my teaching job in the university and through my husband's part time translating skills. God has proven His faithfulness in attending our needs and even rewarded us with some wants sometimes. 👍  Journey as a University Lecturer Please don't get me wrong when I mentioned about "fund raising" 😀 we do acknowledge this is also one of God's vessels to provide His wo...

5 Steps to Effectively Share the Gospel

Image
My husband is praying to win another soul for Christ in our neighborhood. We are grateful to be living in a "Borey" (community in Khmer) where there is a Park. We love walking and exercising at our park. Vandy would be exercising in the early morning there, he would wait for the sun (natural Vitamin D!). It so happened that some new faces would come and exercise as well. On some weekends, my husband has had the opportunity to walk and talk to an elder man while walking on the park. Vandy is an introverted person, it's a struggle for him to even start a conversation, but one thing I like about him is that he is a good listener. And because of that, the elder man is so happy to have conversations with him. He found out that he was a government retiree. They have lots of topics as they walk in the park from politics, family down to health. Vandy is very persistent in listening and is waiting for the opportunity for him to speak. My husband knew it would take a while for the...
