Happy Mother's Day
My cup runneth over! |
I’ve been a mom for 12 years now. And I remember, when I first became one, I felt unqualified. Doubts filled my heart. Could I be a good, godly mom? Would I be enough for my child? Would I fail him? I used to focus on the missing parts, the “what ifs,” and the fears. But over time, I realized that being a mom is not about having it all together. It’s about having a heart willing to obey and trust God, even in the chaos.
Our church recognized not only biological mothers but also spiritual mothers—women who nurture others in faith, like Sister Hyangsuk. Motherhood is not just about giving birth; it’s about giving love, care, and guidance. And sometimes, our spiritual children need us just as much.
I almost cried during the program. My husband, who helped organize the celebration, joined us on stage to distribute gifts to the mothers. He looked at me and shared a few heartfelt words of appreciation. It was simple but meaningful—words I don’t often hear from him. I couldn’t help but smile and give him a heart signal from the stage.

More than the gift itself, I was touched by their thoughtfulness. David even said, "Mom, when I have a wife someday, I want to surprise her like this." I didn’t see that coming. I realized that even in the little things, our son is learning. He’s watching. He’s remembering.
We didn’t go out for a fancy lunch after church. We had visitors coming—our missionary friends from the Philippines. But my husband still treated us to turkey wraps and our favorite iced coconut coffee on the way home. He knows that’s my pick-me-up drink, a small weekly treat I always look forward to.
Psalm 23:5 says, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows." Motherhood can be challenging. It’s filled with doubts, worries, and even tears. But God has always prepared a table for me—a place of blessing, even in difficult seasons. My cup overflows, not because I have it all, but because He is faithful.
Motherhood is a journey of learning to let God fill our cups. When we feel empty, He fills. When we doubt, He reassures. And when we think we’re not enough, He reminds us that His grace is sufficient.
If you’re a mom reading this, whether you’re raising little ones, teenagers, or spiritual children, remember that God sees you. He knows your heart. And He is the One who fills your cup. Sharing to you what could we practically do as mothers:
Take a moment each morning to pray, even just for a minute. Surrender your day to God.
Show appreciation to a mom you know—through a simple text, a small gift, or a call.
If you feel overwhelmed, pause and pray Psalm 23:5, letting God remind you of His overflowing grace.
Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of motherhood. Thank You for filling my cup, even when I feel empty. Help me to trust You in every season, to love my family well, and to be a blessing to others. May my home be a place where Your love is felt deeply. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
You are seen, you are loved, and your cup can overflow—not because you are perfect, but because God is faithful.
From a heart's mom to yours!
