How do we wait upon the Lord?

I have often been in seasons of waiting. Whether it's waiting for a specific answer to a prayer, waiting for a new opportunity, or simply waiting for God's timing, waiting can be a challenging experience. Today, I want to share my reflection based on Psalm 27:14. I am sincerely praying to address it to all the women in my community – single women, mothers, wives, young professionals, and sisters in faith. I am still learning the importance of waiting well and discovering effective ways to navigate this season by God's grace.
Years back, waiting upon the Lord brought tremendous transformation in me personally. I acknowledge God's shaping me from the inside out before even coming to Cambodia as a single missionary. Through the years somehow, I knew this chiseling was necessary for my character development.  With all honesty, I believe I still need to grow and apply these aspects of waiting as I fulfill God's calling in my life in this country.
Five Important Aspects of Waiting
  1. Trust: When we wait on the Lord, we are expressing our trust in His sovereignty and goodness. We believe that His timing is perfect, even when it doesn't align with our expectations.
  2. Patience: Waiting requires patience. It's an opportunity to develop a patient heart, one that is able to endure trials and setbacks without losing hope.
  3. Submission: Waiting involves submitting our will to God's will. We acknowledge that He knows what is best for us, even when we don't understand His plans.
  4. Hope: Waiting is not about giving up hope. It's about holding onto the promise of God's faithfulness and believing that He will come through in His time.
  5. Growth: Waiting can be a time of spiritual growth. It allows us to deepen our relationship with God and discover new aspects of His character.
Five Effective Ways to Wait Well
  1. Prayer: Consistent prayer is essential during seasons of waiting. Pour out your heart to God, expressing your desires, fears, and hopes. Trust that He hears you and will answer in His perfect time.
  2. Scripture: Immerse yourself in God's Word. Seek out verses that offer comfort, encouragement, and hope. Let the Bible guide your thoughts and emotions during this challenging time.
  3. Community: Surround yourself with supportive friends and family. Share your experiences with others who understand what you're going through. Together, you can encourage and uplift each other.
  4. Serve Others: Focus on serving others instead of dwelling on your own circumstances. Helping others can take your mind off your worries and bring joy to your heart.
  5. Rest: Take time to rest and recharge. Get enough sleep, eat healthy foods, and engage in activities that bring you peace and relaxation. A well-rested body and mind can better handle the challenges of waiting.
