David's Swimming goggles - which he will NOT be using for a while 😔😢
I admire how gentle my husband handled the situation on David’s school this week.
We have been praying to talk to the Head of the school about David’s asthma condition.
His difficulty in breathing has been prevalent whenever he joins swimming classes.

These past few weeks, we would send him excuse letters to show to the teacher, so he won’t participate swimming anymore but for some reasons, one of his swimming teachers would show not so good remarks (harsh wordings actually) about David and our son would be upset 😢 and be scared of him.
It is becoming a mental and emotional burden for David.
This time the concern is not about asthma anymore but on David’s well-being at school.
The school knows he has mild autism.
Our dear son does take things literally and he is definitely sensitive about the swimming situation. Every Wednesday he would mention about it over dinner - how he gets scolded, scared and upset. He said his teacher asked him to stop “acting being sick” and that he doesn’t believe he is telling the truth.
David loves swimming a lot but unfortunately, he has to stop for a while so he could breathe better. Whenever he gets sick, he would miss out school at least for a week.

So, with thorough thinking we decided to intervene.
Vandy emailed the head teacher last Tuesday and just informed and explained that David won’t be joining swimming classes anymore due to his asthma.
The content of his letter is very polite and considerate. Dad didn’t even elaborate more on a particular teacher’s harsh wordings on David (since we do honor&exercise 2nd chances at home).
The approach is so gentle and cordial, highlighting the only concern is David’s health and social being.

I asked Vandy whether he was wearing a “pastor’s hat” at that time not a parent’s hat.
He responded to me:
“No, I was just exercising my capacity to respond in love.
Reacting with gentleness instead of anger I believe that's how might Jesus want me to do."💕

I remembered, he actually started and shared a sermon about "Responding with Love" last Sunday. Whoah! he does really walk what he talks.

By God's grace, the head of the school replied promptly.
She also mentioned that the teacher has already been informed and will definitely accept our request. Everything ended well.
