Celebrating our 15th anniversary with 15 Reflections!

Image
Today is our 15 th wedding anniversary. Vandy and I are celebrating with gratitude all by God’s grace. These years have been filled with challenges, joys, and countless moments of growth. Together, we’ve learned and are still in the process of building our marriage. We are hopeful to be always rooted in the Word of God, nurtured by humility, and bearing the fruits of the Spirit. *To know more of our story here 👉  Our most UNLIKELY marriage proposal Marriage is a journey of deep transformation, where God continually refines us, showing us how to love as Christ loves the church. I am grateful for my husband, a man who embodies godliness, humility, and the strength of a true ministry partner. Here are fifteen reflections on our marriage, which have shaped us into who we are today. 1. Humility is the Foundation We are still learning to be humble day after day. Our mentors would always encourage us to apply it in our marriage. It’s challenging to ask each other “How can I improve...

What does it Mean to Live Out my Faith?

Image
Thank God It's Friday (TGIF!).  Before traveling to Kampong Cham for Pchum Benh holiday tomorrow, I want to share my devotion for today. It's about Matthew 5:13-16, what it means to be salt and light, and how we can live this out practically in our homes, workplaces, and communities. I am trying to reflect and answer the three questions I will share in my discipleship session tonight based on CCF Sunday’s message discussion questions 👉 4Ws: Be an Influencer for Christ As a pastor’s wife here in Cambodia, I often think about what it means to live out my faith in a way that impacts those around me. Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:13-16—about being the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world"—challenge us to ask ourselves how our lives reflect Christ, especially to our family, friends, and neighbors who don’t yet know Him. In a country like Cambodia, where Buddhist beliefs deeply influence the culture, how can we as Christians make a difference? 1. What Do...

Why Do Cambodians Celebrate Pchum Ben?

Image
Cambodia will have a long holiday next week. It's a BIG and an important holiday for Khmers called Pchum Benh. Schools and establishments would even be closed for a week! In fact, the capital city Phnom Penh will be turned into a ghost town since almost all the citizens will be traveling back to their hometowns to spend the holidays with their respective families. Our David could not contain his excitement about our road trip to Kampong Cham this coming Saturday. Pchum Ben, one of Cambodia’s most significant holidays, is deeply rooted in its people's culture, traditions, and beliefs . As a family of three serving in this beautiful country, it's always a blessing to be allowed to witness how Cambodians honor this sacred time. My husband and I look forward to these kinds of holidays, not only to visit our families but also to use this time to reflect on how the love of Christ shines on them as well. Allow me to share and introduce to you the meaning of Pchum Ben, a celebratio...

The Importance of "Daily Goals"

Image
I know that life can get busy and overwhelming at times. As a pastor’s wife here in Cambodia, between ministry, family, and personal responsibilities, it can be easy to overlook the small, daily habits that build a healthy spiritual and physical life. However, it’s often the little things we do every day that lead to lasting transformation. By God’s grace, I’m continuing to commit myself to growth. Yes it’s challenging and overwhelming, but I realized the more things get busier having a routine is helpful to set priorities and get things done – not my way but God’s. Early on in my walk with God, I have committed myself to creating goals to practice spiritual discipline. My life is not mine, it’s not my own to live. I need to know my Savior. It’s always a daily surrender to Him. I am not trying to be perfect because nobody is. What I am trying to share is I can’t depend on myself, since I am always bound to fail. These specific and simple daily goals are helping me to grow spiritually...

How do we wait upon the Lord?

Image
I have often been in seasons of waiting. Whether it's waiting for a specific answer to a prayer, waiting for a new opportunity, or simply waiting for God's timing, waiting can be a challenging experience.  Today, I want to share my reflection based on Psalm 27:14. I am sincerely praying to address it to all the women in my community – single women, mothers, wives, young professionals, and sisters in faith. I am still learning the importance of waiting well and discovering effective ways to navigate this season by God's grace. Years back, waiting upon the Lord brought tremendous transformation in me personally. I acknowledge God's shaping me from the inside out before even coming to Cambodia as a single missionary. Through the years somehow, I knew this chiseling was necessary for my character development.  With all honesty, I believe I still need to grow and apply these aspects of waiting as I fulfill God's calling in my life in this country. Five Important Aspects ...
