Kunthy's Spiritual birthday πŸŽ‚

Image
Household of faith πŸ˜πŸ™ We made the decision to welcome my sister-in-law Kunthy and her teenage son Pich to live with us here in the city (Phnom Penh) a year ago.  We have been praying for Vandy's entire family to accept Christ as their Savior for many years now and we also realize that this might be our chance.  Perhaps living with us would mean a great opportunity to share the gospel to them. We praise God for the wonderful progress these past few months.  As a family, we made a conscious effort to show my sister in-law and Pich how much we care for them. not just in words, but above all in deeds. Dad, David and I prayed each night (before we go to bed) that they will soon come to truly accept Christ as Lord and that the things we do at home (prayer before meals, bible study, bible reading, attending worship at church) will become a way of life for them so that they can enjoy and encounter Christ.  We hope to show them that we have a spiritual father and ...

Our Autism journey

Image
David's first time to travel in the Philippines (3yrs old) - diagnosed with Mild Autism When David was 3yrs old he was diagnosed with mild autism.  The news made us weary and shaken. How could this be? But by God’s grace, He helped us face and embrace the truth. Our fears before turned us to trust God more.   Looking back, we praise God for He put us in this situation.  It was actually more than a blessing. David is kindhearted and focus. Thought he won’t speak but turned out he’s even more talkative and friendly.  Here were some posts when I mentioned about how God has ever been present in our autism journey: πŸ‘‰  Star of the Week πŸ‘‰  Upset πŸ‘‰  Culprit One of our goals as parents is how he would live even without us anymore so as much as possible we are teaching him life skills that he could use/do independently such as cooking his own breakfast, preparing his own bed, clothes to wear daily/weekly, read his own bible, bathing/cleaning himself, does his...

Would you eat Durian fruit? πŸ†πŸŽ

Image
Known as the "King of fruits," durian is definitely living on its core as the finest fruit in Southeast Asia, and of course durian fruit is also especially valued in Cambodia. For a willing traveler seeking an unusual experience, this fruit is worth trying due to its distinctive qualities and overwhelming aroma.  I believe that the sole guilty pleasure we enjoy as a family is eating durian during its peak season from April to May once a year. We also solely purchase durian from local growers in the provinces of Kampot or Kampong Cham. We love sharing/eating this fruit to our congregation and Vandy has even used the fruit as a prize and an illustration in one of his sermons from the previous summer.  Pastors here in Cambodia share similar delight on eating durian fruit. In fact, one of them even planted these trees at his back yard years ago and now has started to harvest the fruit of his labor. We are one of the blessed recipients of pastor Sopheak's 1st durian harvest πŸ‘‰...

Decisions and the will of God πŸ™πŸ’•πŸ‘

Image
We had a wonderful corporate worship yesterday. All praises to God!  Our house is at least 45minute drive to PPC worship place, we thank God for the men and women at the dorm who would always be coming earlier to help set up the worship hall.  Pastor Greg has started a new series on "Better life decisions, better future".  Here are my take aways: πŸ‘ Decisions and the will of God *Know the written word of God  Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”  -  And even if you don't understand, just follow the clear instructions provided by God's Word when making a decision.  Our foundation for direction for making wise choices in life can be found in God's Word. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."                  ...

Treasures that last forever

Image
Our lives can be made more comfortable by material belongings, such as the newest phones, larger homes, or cars. It's simple to assume that possessing more will also increase our happiness. However, the reality is that nothing we may purchase will stay forever. There is a time limit on everything we gather on this planet. Houses collapse, cars break down, and new phones age rapidly. We truly have no control over the affairs of this world in the long term. When Jesus invites us to focus on storing treasures in heaven, where things do not fade or vanish, He is essentially inviting us to a different way of living. He calls us to concentrate on heavenly things that will endure forever rather than accumulating material possessions.  Everything we own was actually given to us by God's grace, we are just the managers of these.  ** The passage advises not to store treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy and thieves steal, but in heaven, where treasures are safe and secure. ...

Vacation Bible School in Cambodia

Image
We love VBS πŸ˜…πŸ˜  David looks forward to joining every summer break! He loves the fact that he will meet new friends and be reunited with his old friends. He is definitely much excited to see Sophear, Chamnab, Chamkar and aunt Jewel everyday for a week! I'm glad I was able to get to see them on the 2nd day (holiday!) before they fly back to America for their furlough. I heard the children will have an extended get together this lunch time after today's session.. I wish to join them 😒  I accepted Christ as my Savior!   I also used to join VBS when I was younger. Our church would host it in the Philippines. It's a must for us compassion sponsored children (Compassion Philippines) to attend VBS.  My siblings (Jr & Ruth) and I would walk to church in the mornings carrying our snacks and bible for 30minutes! those were fond memories with them, because sometimes we would sing, fight, play during those walks - we would even have lots of stops and be curious on hills, b...

Queen’s Birthday (holiday in Cambodia πŸ‡°πŸ‡)

Image
I praised God for many holidays in Cambodia. Today is the Queen's birthday! It's only by God's grace that I was able to accomplish many tasks today. I’m glad I was able to take David to VBS, had a coffee date with Vandy, met with friends in the mission field and took my overdue blood tests.  I have been planning to do that tests but too busy and I must confess I’m a bit scared as well.  I finally had the courage yesterday.  I thank God for the negative results from diabetes and other health distress πŸ˜‰πŸ™ The verse today is definitely God’s reminder and promise that He is always present in our battles.  Psalm 107:13-14  Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,  and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness,  and broke away their chains. What a productive day indeed.  ✅ brought David to VBS (Vacation Bible School) ✅ had my much awaited blood 🩸 tests ✅ coffee date with hubby while waiting for Da...
