Simple Christmas Lunch@home

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6)

Reflecting on the Christmas story

Ever since I moved to Cambodia in 2007 I have never experienced Christmas Eve like we do elaborately in the Philippines. Although sometimes we would be invited for quieter Christmas dinners with missionaries here in Cambodia (which has become a new norm for us 😄) we get to enjoy much intimate fellowships with the believers as well. We don't get to stay until the midnight since most of us still need to go to our usual day jobs the next day. Personally, yes I still do miss the usual activities we do back home: caroling with cousins, church choir, family reunions, parties here and there, karaoke performances, parlor games, exchange gifts and the like haha 😂

Kidding aside, I enjoyed and missed those traditions back home. We pray someday we get to go home during Christmas so David would know how is "Pasko" being celebrated in the Philippines. 👍

What we do at home here in Cambodia is - we look forward for Christmas lunch 🤩🥰 like yesterday I made baked spaghetti and since our relatives are with us, we made it extra special by letting them know the meaning of Jesus' birth. We pray they’re able to know it by heart. This is also their first time to experience being celebrated at home. We pray it would be memorable for them.

More than the physical gifts giving - we hope and pray to live out our faith by spending/giving our time and show our love for others specially to those who have poor in spirit (who don’t know God personally). Yes it’s tasky, time consuming and sometimes costly, but we know these should be all worth it once they will be able to know Christ and accept them as their Savior right? Jesus has loved us unconditionally, thus his love needs to be spread!
