How Do We Trust God’s Promises in the Mission Field?

Image
Faith and Joy in the Mission Field There’s something uniquely beautiful about stepping into the unknown, trusting God’s promises, and watching Him work in ways we could never imagine. As a pastor’s wife, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside my husband, Vandy, in ministry—from the remote mission fields of Kratie province to the bustling city of Phnom Penh. Through it all, one truth has remained constant:  God is faithful, and His promises never fail.  Today, I want to encourage you with a message in  Isaiah 58:11 : “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” This verse has been our anchor in ministry, especially during seasons of uncertainty, limited resources, and overwhelming challenges. Whether you’re feeling called to missions, discipling young people, or simply sharing the gospel in your neighborhood, I want to r...

Happy Father's Day

Image
Yesterday was a special day for our church. We celebrated two meaningful events: Father’s Day and the 12th anniversary of Phnom Penh Church (PPC).  It was more than just a day of celebration; it was a reflection of God's faithfulness, both to our individual families and to our church family. As I sat quietly in the back of the room, watching our young fathers smile, our children giggle at the video, and our church community come together with grateful hearts, I was moved beyond words. "As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him." — Psalm 103:13 (ESV) Sermon Shared by Pastor Vandy During worship, my husband Vandy encouraged the fathers in our church both young and old, to show God’s love to their families. He reminded them that love is not just expressed through big actions or special occasions but through the daily and often unnoticed things. The way we speak, the way we listen, the way we respond these are reflections...

Do you Date with the intent to marry?

Image
I am grateful for a husband who not only cares for our family but also serves our church faithfully. Vandy is dependable to his friends and to the wider community. He may be quiet, but his life speaks loudly of faith in action. Our 16th anniversary reminded me again of the importance of marrying with intention. For the young people and singles we minister to, we often encourage them: date with the intent to marry. Marriage is not about fleeting feelings but about building a life together under God’s guidance. A few days ago, on September 30, my husband and I celebrated our sixteenth wedding anniversary. Sixteen years, it feels both long and short. Long because of all the stories, lessons, and memories we now carry together. Short because the days seem to have passed so quickly. This year, our celebration was simple but very meaningful. Vandy picked me up from the university after my morning classes, and we went on a lunch date. He brought me to a steak house, a rare treat for us since...

Up Close: Who we are? After knowing a little bit of our small family, now I would like to share about God's work through our ministries here in Cambodia. I also would like to sincerely thank you for considerably covering us with your prayers and for always looking after us.  These means a lot. You are a channel of blessing! Background: When Vandy's teaching/leadership transition in the bible school has ended, it was clear to my husband that God is calling us to plant a church again - this time in the city. We just don't know where and when could we start. All we know we should be ready to obey.  As a young couple, we were also anticipating that our own family will grow and that we might have a baby eventually. God has been faithful. We know He is providing us financially through our work. I was offer a fulltime teaching job in a university while Vandy facilitated some translating jobs.  It was also that time KCC - Khmer Community Church/Kampuchea Christian Communit...

Ms. Allyn was my former boss (World Hope Org), speaking life to me as a future bride to Vandy in 2009 . She gifted us with a rice cooker, which, up to now, is being used for the church monthly potluck! Cool, right? I’ve always believed that hospitality is more than opening the doors of our homes, it’s opening the doors of our hearts. Here in Phnom Penh, where life buzzes with the noise of traffic and the rhythm of daily routines, God gives us moments that remind us of His quiet glory through friendships, food, stories, and smiles. Just like Psalm 19:1 declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands,” our little acts of love and fellowship can also speak loudly of His presence and goodness. And sometimes, it happens over shared meals, in homes where stories are retold, prayers whispered, and hearts encouraged. A Full Circle of Kindness More than ten years ago, I was a young single missionary based in Kratie province . Whenever I would travel to ...
