Last Sunday my husband Vandy preached a message at our church to help us prepare our hearts for this season. It was a simple but powerful reminder of what it means to live our lives in a way that reflects Christ. He encouraged us to love people intentionally, even the ones who misunderstand us or dislike us. He reminded us to reach out to our family and friends who do not yet know Christ and invite them to join us in the joy of celebrating Jesus. And he reminded us that we must shine as lights in a world that is becoming darker and more confused every day. As I write this, the news of the ongoing tensions between Cambodia and Thailand has been flooding both social media and mainstream platforms. Families from different countries have been messaging us, asking about our current situation in Phnom Penh. Friends from the Philippines and relatives abroad are genuinely concerned. We’re thankful for their love and care. So let me begin by saying: Praise God! we are doing well. Life in the capital continues as usual, and so far, Phnom Penh remains calm and safe. But I won’t pretend everything is okay everywhere. What is happening along the Cambodian-Thai border is real, and it is heartbreaking. The southern provinces are deeply affected. Borders and trades have been closed for more than a month now, and people who have built their entire lives in that area are being displaced. Some friends had to shut down their businesses temporarily because their supplies raw materials, ingredients, basic products come from Thailand. The impact is widespread....

The month of July has been both eventful and challenging for our family, our ministry, and Cambodia as a whole. Yet through it all, we stand in awe of God’s unwavering presence.  He never fails to fight for us, and never once has He left our side. If you have been following my blog, you may already know that sometime last year, our family started what we now call our Faith Project. It is a small home-based business that grew alongside our existing Divine Pasta shop. It was never meant to be just about income. It was never about chasing growth or recognition. It was a step of obedience. A response to what God placed in our hands. And honestly, at the beginning, we did not even know where it would lead. Today’s devotion reminded me of something very simple but deeply true. God often works quietly. Not always in big announcements or dramatic moments, but in small steps of obedience, in daily faithfulness, and in seeds planted with prayer and trust. Today is a holiday in Cambodia. It is Peace Day . This is actually a new holiday created just last year in 2024. When it was announced, many of us welcomed it with hope. A day meant to remind us that peace matters. A day to pause and reflect on unity, healing, and safety for our nation. And yet, who would have thought that this year, a border dispute with Thailand would take place so close to this very day. It feels ironic. Peace Day arrives while bombs have shaken border communities. Families have been displaced. Homes have been damaged. Fear has quietly entered places where children once played freely. For many, peace suddenly feels fragile and uncertain. In moments like this, staying silent does not feel right. As a family, and as part of a faith community, we felt a strong pull to do something.
